Laboratory FAQs
Is it necessary to schedule an appointment before visiting the laboratory?
There is no requirement for a prior appointment. Patients are welcome to visit the laboratory at their convenience.
How long does it take to receive test results?
Most standard test results are available within 24 hours. Certain specialized tests may require additional processing time.
How should a 24-hour urine sample be collected?
• The collection may begin on any day and should continue for the next 24 hours.
• The patient should avoid stress, remain well-hydrated, and refrain from taking antibiotics, ACTH, or corticosteroids for at least two days prior to collection.
• The first morning urine of the starting day is discarded. From that point, all urine is collected for the next 24 hours, including the first morning urine of the following day.
• During collection, the urine should be stored in the refrigerator.
• Once the collection is complete, the urine should be delivered to the laboratory promptly.
Useful instructions before a blood test
• For blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, insulin, and C-peptide tests, fasting for 8–12 hours is required.
• Thyroid function tests: blood should be drawn before taking daily thyroid medication.
• Cortisol: blood should be drawn early in the morning, between 7:30–8:30.
• Gynecological hormones and androgens: generally collected on the 3rd–5th day of the menstrual cycle, but patients should consult their physician regarding the optimal timing.
